Writing Outside The Margins - August 24, 2008
On Sunday, August 24, 2008, Xtra's WRITING OUTSIDE THE MARGINS festival of queer literature will quite literally take the works of LGBT writers to the street in a day-long interactive spectacle in celebration of literary arts, the first of its kind. This will be the most diverse literary celebration of the year! We're closing down Church Street to present a dazzling array of reading and performance, along with a publishers' fair, in celebration of the best of the rainbow literati both local and international. The full spectrum of readings will feature food, fiction, poetry, children's lit, theatre, essays, horror, young adult novels, history, theory, erotica, sci-fi and much more. Families will love our children's zone, which offers readings and play space. Writers are welcome to bring their work for our on-the-spot anthology and are invited to jump right in at the open mics and poetry slam. Plus there's a how-to-publish panel discussion, and a book and zine fair. We've even got sexy librarians, and chill-out space for mingling, reading and autograph hunting. Literally, something for everyone! For more information visit www.xtra.ca/writinginthemargins
